GPS tracker with no monthly fee: what is included
Your GPS tracker price includes the device, SIM card and three years of service. Find out what happens next and how to renew if you choose.
In our offer, a GPS tracker with no monthly fee means you buy the device with configuration, SIM card data and three years of access to the tracking system included. There is no separate monthly service charge during that period. The tracker belongs to you, and at the end of three years you decide whether to continue using our service.
This can suit a car owner who wants to see their vehicle’s location and previous trips, or a small business tracking several company vehicles. In either case, it helps to understand what the purchase price covers and which costs may be additional before you buy.
What “no monthly fee” actually means
The first three years of access to the system and mobile connectivity are included in the device purchase. We operate our own tracking system. Connectivity and system access are included in the purchase price, with no separate bills for them.
After three years, you can renew the service if you choose; renewal is paid and optional. The tracker remains your property after the service ends.
The first three-year period starts when you pay for the purchase, rather than at your first login or first drive. If you buy a tracker in advance and begin using it later, bear this in mind when planning your purchase.
What is included and what costs extra
You can find the current price of your chosen model in the GPS tracker catalogue. When comparing purchase costs, consider the complete solution as well as the device itself.
| Item | What you receive |
|---|---|
| GPS tracker | A device that remains your property |
| Configuration | A tracker configured for our system |
| SIM card and data | Three years of connectivity for transmitting tracker data |
| System access | A personal account for viewing vehicle location, speed, trip history and reports |
Workshop installation of the FTC921 and FTC880 is charged separately. We help you get the FMB020, FMP100 and ATC700 running free of charge. Before you buy, we clarify whether you can connect the chosen device yourself or need installation. This makes the installation charge clear before the purchase.
A business with several vehicles can view them in one account, but each vehicle needs its own tracker. A meaningful cost comparison therefore also takes account of the number of vehicles and installation for each one.
How much data is included and where connectivity works
The tracker’s SIM card initially comes with 500 MB of data for the entire period. In our experience of normal use, this lasts for three years. It is not a fresh 500 MB each month or an unlimited data plan.
If the data runs out early in a rare case, we add data so that it lasts until the end of the agreed three-year period. This allowance is for the tracker: the device uses it to send its location and other tracking data to the system.
Connectivity abroad is included in countries within the coverage area, with no separate roaming charge. However, the tracker must support the local mobile network, and a signal must be available. Capabilities differ between models, so check your model’s compatibility before travelling in “SIM card and coverage”.
How to compare it with a monthly plan
To compare a monthly plan with our solution, choose the same period of use, such as three years. For both offers, include the cost of the device, any required installation, mobile connectivity and access to the system. For a monthly plan, add up all monthly payments over that period.
Next, compare what the service provides. Our solution offers location, speed, trip history and basic reports. We do not offer fuel monitoring, remote engine shutdown or a security response service. If you need one of these, comparing monthly payments alone will not tell you which solution meets your needs.
The presence or absence of a monthly charge alone does not tell you whether an offer is good value for you. Checking your own car’s location and managing complex business logistics may require different services. Compare the features you will actually use.
What happens after three years
You can renew the service for another three years if you choose. We confirm the current price when you renew; see “Service renewal” for the full procedure.
If you do not renew, the vehicle’s location stops updating at the end of the paid period. You retain access to existing data for another three months, after which we remove the tracker along with all its history. If there are no other trackers on the account, we delete the account too.
Do you have to keep using our service?
No. The tracker remains yours when our service ends. The device can also be connected to another compatible tracking system; compatibility needs to be checked separately.
